Leading Influential Top Twenty Books
Many people read cheap books in this World. Some love reading, some read to improve their knowledge and some read because they want to improve their vocabulary and grammar. People who have recently just started reading books want to know what books to read and what are the most influential books in the World. There are upto 100 of books recommended by various sources but I will only be talking about the top twenty.
Many people have argued the case of religions books being on the top 50 but religions has always been influential in human history so obviously they will be listed. According to Seymour Smith here are the top twenty lists of influential books he gives in no particular order.
The I Ching, Chinese classic texts, The Old Testament, The Iliad and The Odysseyby Homer, The Upanishads, Hindu scripture, The Way and Its Power, Lao-tzu, The Avesta, Analects Confucius, History of the Peloponnesian War, Thucydides, Works Hippocrates, Works Aristotle, History Herodotus, The Republic Plato, Elements Euclid, The Dhammapada, Aeneid Virgil, On the Nature of Reality, Lucretius Allegorical Expositions of the Holy Laws, Philo of Alexandria, The New Testament, Lives Plutarch, Annals from the Death of the Divine Augustus Cornelius Tacitus.
Yes unfortunately most of them are religious books but they do hold a massive importance on people's lives. The below are the list of the books which I feel should be included in the top 100 list.
Married Love by Marie Stopes, On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, Principia Mathematica by Isaac Newton, A vindication of the Rights Of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft, Book of Rules of Association Football by a group of former English public school men, On the Abolition of the Slave trade by William Wilberforce, The First Folio by William Shakespeare and Magna Carta by members of the English ruling classes.
If you have any non fiction books or children's books or books of any other genres then feel free to let me know about it by commenting below.
Boys Athlete of the Week: Torie Wagner, Old Mill, football (baltmoresun)
Wagner played a huge role on both sides of the ball in helping No. 3 Old Mill
(14-0) to a 36-35 overtime victory over Quince Orchard in Friday's Class 4A
state championship. The 5-foot-7, 158-pound slot receiver and cornerback
scored two touchdowns -- one on a 64-yard pass reception and another on a
fumble recovery. He had six catches for 138 yards and also had nine tackles
and one interception. Wagner finished the season with nine interceptions and
56 tackles as well as 35 receptions for 747 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has
drawn interest from several college programs, including Maryland and William &
Mary.
