Outdoor Furniture For The Environment
If you’re worried about your carbon footprint and what impact the things you buy have on the Earth, you have options when it comes to environmentally friendly outdoor furniture. There are many new companies who are getting on an eco-bandwagon, and a few of the more seasoned ones are joining in as well.
For years, teak has been one of the most popular higher end woods for outdoor furniture. Its color is beautiful when weather and the wood lasts for years. Sadly, many of the teak forests in Southeast Asia have been all but depleted. Many companies are now finding alternative methods for obtaining teak. One company, who headquarters in Costa Rica, is manufacturing furniture from sustainably forests. They give a portion of their profits back toward reforestation. While teak outdoor furniture is less of a bargain than ever, buying one is no longer going to destroy the eco-system. Several outdoor furniture manufacturers have joined an organization called 1% For The Planet. It is an organization of corporations who donate 1% of their sales toward global environmental conservation. You’ll notice the affiliation logo while shopping on many of their sites.
Recycled plastics are popular with other manufacturers and designers for producing very good and high style out door furniture. These items are not your typical big box plastic chairs either. They are highly stylized and comfortable additions to the market. Remember how stunned people were to find out that polar fleece was made from recycled plastic, and that’s how these designs will be seen! It also withstands winter weather, which means it does have to be taken indoors for storage. The maintenance is low and chairs and tables stay looking great. Recycled wrought iron is also becoming a popular new look. The staves of wine barrels are being used to make fabulous contemporary chairs and you’ll find hammocks made of recycled soda bottles. You’ll find it just as comfortable as the old rope style ones.
Polywood and recycled rubber products are also worth looking at as options. Polywood is much like plywood in nature, but is more durable and certainly nicer to look at. The efforts by manufacturers to work harder for a better environment are becoming bigger and better. You’ll be surprised at the option you have for environmentally friendly outdoor furnishings. Rustic and hand hewn products are now being left in the dust!

Need Help with Wall Color and Dark Teak Wood !!?
I just bought an indonesian dining room table and chairs - very dark teak. My diningroom has a yellowish mushroom color wall extending from the livingroom meeting a coolish dark brown feature wall directly behind the table. I feel like the dark red of the wood and the coolness of the brown just aren't working - any thoughts on other colors to try - I like a deep feature wall in the dining room for mood.
AGREE WITH THE OTHER TWO LADIES, A DEEP RED ON ONE WALL, MAYBE A STIPE OF DEEP RED OVER THE MUSHROOM COLOR TOO, TO BLEND IT TOGETHER. USE A HUNTER GREEN FOR ACCENT COLOR IN BOTH ROOMS..CARRY THE DEEP RED INTO THE LIVING ROOM WITH FLOWERS OR PAINTINGS INCORPORATING ALL COLORS...GOOD LUCK
