Blending Style And Function In The Laundry Room
Although hard work are accomplished in the laundry room, it doesn't have to be a den of drudgery. Rather, it can be a stylish area that adds functionality to your home. Design a laundry room that gives you extra storage and works as a multi-functional room, while being just as stylish as the rest of the home.
Color & Style.
Without a doubt, a laundry room is a highly utilitarian space, but it doesn't have to be dull. Bright and sunny colors can make this area in the home appear more inviting. Walls in shades of clear yellow, soothing aqua, sea foam green, lavender or shades of red will warm and energize you. Bring in bold accents with accessories. If there is space above cabinets use it to display vases or glassware, metal florist vases, pottery, collectibles, baskets, birdhouses or anything that makes you smile. Go boldly where you've never gone before with wall art in bright shades; framed graphic prints, a striking wall wine rack, painted garden iron or palm tree wall art will help you define your style.
Sunshine is Invariably Welcome.
If your laundry room has a window, choose sheer cafe curtains that make the most of natural light or matchstick shades that filter intense sunlight while allowing outdoor views to remain. Dull and boring florescent light fixtures can be switched out with trendy pendent lights. Reverberate light throughout the area by strategically placing a wall mirror in the room.
Cabinets and Built-In Storage Choices.
If your laundry room includes a closet, invest in shelving and rods that allow you to make the most of the space. Shoes, cleaning supplies, pet supplies, hats and outwear can be stored on shelves while coats and jackets can be hung from a rod.
Shelving units and cabinets can be put into place to fill up unused wall space. If you are looking for more affordable options, then select white laminate cabinets that go well with white washer and dryer pairs. Pieces that do double-duty, like a bench with storage below, will add to your comfort and storage space.
Free-standing mobile units that allow you to sort laundry, hang clothing, and store supplies, can be moved where needed, giving you flexible storage options.
Make it Multi-Functional.
Activities like flower arranging and pet care can be made easier with a counter and sink in the laundry room. Designate a shelf for flower vases, pet supplies or hobby supplies and free up space elsewhere in the home. Use your hobby or pet as inspiration for laundry room decor. You can complement a garden or pet motif in the laundry room if you normally store these types of items there. For instance, you can use wall hooks to display collars, leashes and bandanas. A basket can hold favorite balls and toys and a monogrammed pet bed tells everyone who rules. Set out a vibrant container of pet treats on a counter top. Enlarge favorite pictures of your dog or cat and use computer effects to make bold modern prints that you can frame and use as large wall sculptures to accent blank wall space.
Do not disregard the obvious when you are designing your laundry room. Make every inch of space count and let the decor reflect your lifestyle and interests.

Would you host a clothing party?
A friend suggested hosting a clothing party. I have inventory I sell on line . New and USED items brands like anthropologie odille , bcbg , forever 21 , levi's , bebe, tresics, Rebecca beeson, Cynthia Rowley etc. I am wondering if this would be a good idea ? How can i make this party successful ? I would charge like $25 for a better brand pre owned item , is this fair ? I would also bring wine , and set up racks & mirrors. I guess I am concerned if this would be a success or not ? Also what can I do to ensure it is fun ? How many items should i bring . I have about 2000+ in inventory but no two are the same .
That definetly sounds like something I would go to.
You should make ppl buy your clothes but u should also have like a swapping clothes party.
