What Makes A Kitchen Work?

In so many ways, the kitchen has replaced the living room as the family gathering place. The living room today in many ways should be renamed the TV room, because that seems to be the only thing the family does in it. The kitchen, however, is where they truly spend time together.

This is largely because of changes in kitchen design. In the past, the kitchen was separated from the rest of the home. It was a place for cooking only. When meals were prepared, they were delivered to the dining room.

Today's open plan kitchens have changed all that. Now there are no walls separating the kitchen from the dining and living areas.
