What colors do I use to decorate around a gray stone fire place with walnut mantel?
I have walnut and cherry furniture. Will soon have dark wood flooring, and I love warm colors. My husband likes blue. I don't care for the gray tones at all. My couch and loveseat are dark brown, and the recliner is dk brown leather. Lamps are bronzy in tone. This walkout basement room is very large with a large window.
Thanks Dilbert. I have found some amazing throw rugs online that have all the colors I want to work with. I'm going with basic tan walls with blue accents. I have some framed collector prints that are beautiful. Now lets hope I can talk the hubby into taking the huge elk head off the wall over the mantel.
Wish me luck.
You better get an amazing area rug in there pronto.
Create a cozy seating arrangement.
Decorate around the mantel with large black and white print photos or artwork. Add ceramics in a warm color and candles. Layer it lavishly!
Episode 2: Kristen Wentrcek of Wintercheck Factory – From Design to Creation (thepoliticker.observer)
Welcome to _12 to Watch in 2012_, a new web series profiling some of New
York's top minds doing innovative things with technology and design. This week
we're meeting Kristen Wentrcek, the CEO and Founder of Wintercheck Factory - a
design and manufacturing company based in Bushwick that creates, sources, and
manufactures products like furniture, clothing, and accessories, with an eye
on forward-thinking design. Ms. Wentrcek started Wintercheck Factory after
working her post-collegiate years in real estate development in New York.
After learning how to put together buildings, she switched careers to focus on
creating products to use instead of places to live - similar processes, she
says, although vastly different in scale. Now Wintercheck Factory designs and
produces everything from solid walnut desks to swimsuits to utility shower
curtains that have space for your toiletries. As for how they create their
designs, Ms. Wentrcek recounts the creation of one of the more sentimental
products she manufactures and sells - a ring based off of her great-great-
aunt's handcrafted wedding band. Because of its intricate design, the first
casters she approached were hesitant to take on the replication, until she
found someone who could scan the ring ...
