3 Vital Skiing Safety Suggestions That Could Save Your Life
Regardless of what your passion is you know what a feeling it is to be one with nature on a beautiful slope or trail. At the end of a fantastic day of skiing when your muscles are tired and your belly is empty you can sit by the fire as you dine with friends over drinks and good conversation.
However we all know the hidden dangers on the slopes and trails. It's simply something we all know and have to deal with. Listen to your elders, these safety tips can help keep you out of trouble. Also, another excellent way to become a safer skier is by getting fit. Have a look at the TACFIT Commando workout by Scott Sonnon, highly recommended.
Using the wrong equipment can cause accidents and mishaps that could have been avoided no matter what the sport or occasion. This is true for any number of activities from sports to recreational activity even skiing. It is important to use proper equipment for whatever environment you will be in and the type of skiing you want to do. Do not borrow someone else's equipment. You can rent from a pro shop near where you are vacationing if you like. You may have the opportunity to rent from a local shop close to home and then carry the equipment to your destination. These shops offer assistance to new skiers and old alike for proper equipment fittings. Wearing a ski helmet is very similar to wearing a motorcycle helmet because it is often a question of personal choice unless the latter is mandated by law. But there are no laws about wearing a helmet while skiing. However, obviously a helmet can save your life should you have a ski accident. Many hazards on the mountain are hazardous enough without becoming deadly. If you do elect to wear a helmet, then we highly recommend you choose one that is certified as tested and safe. Helmets should be mandatory for children.
Before you go off half cocked not knowing what you are doing it's a good idea to take some lessons. Almost all ski resorts will offer lessons on site. You can take lessons from a qualified ski instructor, and for most situations they'll have you doing basic skiing with maneuvering in no time at all. It's important to know how to fall properly and to protect your legs. Don't be embarrassed by taking these lessons.
Although thousands of people in the world have been enjoying the luxury of the ski slopes for years, it is still an activity that should be handled seriously because of its ability to inflict harm. This is why you must adhere the skiing safety advisories and suggestions while you are leaning to ski. It is fairly simple to learn about ski safety and it might end up saving your life and someone's life down the road. Last but not least, don't forget to look at our TACFIT Commando review.
I'm thinking of moving to Beacon Hill in Boston. How hard is it to find resident parking spots there?
I've heard that even with a resident parking sticker, it's very difficult to park there. I don't want to spend every night driving around for 30 minutes looking for a space. Can someone who's lived there with a care tell me what it's really like? Thanks.
Beacon Hill parking is pretty tight. Some nights you'll get lucky, but some you'll be driving around for over 45 mins. And in the winter - forget about it. The snow piles up and spaces are EXTREMELY limited.
You probably are aware of this, but just in case - in order to get a resident sticker you must have your plates & insurance registered to the address you'll be living at in Beacon Hill. When I moved here it was cheaper for me to keep my car & insurance registered at my parents' home & pay to rent a spot than it was to pay the extra insurance for a city address.
Hope this helps and welcome to Boston!
