The antique came out on a conveyor and the contestants who didn't know were to come up with something amusing of plausible to fool the contestants.

Liars club is right - I loved that show - funny and clever BUT it was not always antiques - sometimes the objects were just obscure or from other countries...
people who watched the shows could send in objects.
yes one was given the actuall answer early on and the others were given different ideas on which to tell the person.. I dont know if each knew if they were told the truth or a lie at the time - but am certain they were not making it up on the spot... that would have been too hard and you could catch them while they were trying to come up with an idea if they did that.
