The reality has set in for "American Idol" enthusiasts that Simon Cowell is not anymore a part of the TV show. The real fear now is that every person is abandoning ship. First, Ellen DeGeneres came forward with an announcement that she is leaving behind the show. Not only that, but according to the L.A. Times, Kara DioGuardi has been kicked to the curb. Chill dog Randy Jackson may not be lonesome for long, though, as reports indicate that Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler may be filling the vacant seats.

'American Idol' has an unstable future

Clearly Fox, also as Nigel Lythgoe and also the "American Idol" production group, think there are nevertheless ratings to be squeezed from the aging yet still popular program. Jennifer Lopez will allegedly bring the show muchos magicos as Kara DioGuardi's replacement, says Deadline.com. Coincidentally, Lopez started her career as a dancer, much like Paula Abdul. A Lopez return to Fox may remind a number people of her stint as a dancer on "In Living Color".

Viewers were jumping ship

Certain, "Idol" is nevertheless one of the nation's more viewed programs, but a decrease in viewership has not gone unnoticed by the show's producers. Reports are that they were on the verge of letting Ellen DeGeneres go. Rather than firing her as they did DioGuardi, "Idol" producers allowed Ellen to walk out under her own power, so to speak. Ellen was non-confrontational in a statement- "A couple months ago, I let Fox and the 'American Idol' producers know that this didn't feel like the right fit for me". If not the "right fit" for "Idol" means that she often seemed like somebody on the deck of the Titanic, then yes, Ellen was not a good fit.

"We love Ellen and understand and support her decision to bow out of 'Idol'," said Fox Networks Group chairman Peter Rice.

The chemistry needed an adjustment

"American Idol" Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe knew that Kara, Simon and Randy didn't click without Paula Abdul. Throwing Ellen DeGeneres in to be a "nice" judge didn't improve the mix at all. Lythgoe would have loved to have Paula, Usher and Elton John, but it apparently was not meant to be. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler appear to be on the fast track to "AI".

Steven Tyler is playing it cool

X17 Online was able to catch up to Steven Tyler outside the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood, so they pumped him for a scoop. Allegedly, Tyler would be made head judge, the role once played by Simon Cowell. Of course Tyler played his cards close to the vest. But he did not say no, either.
